Ride up the coast to get to Down East and Acadia, a region well-
known for its lobster, lighthouses, glacial movements of Acadia
National Park, and dramatic tides of Passamaquoddy Bay. Boasting
some of the most scenic coastline in New England, the Down East
and Acadia region is dotted with quaint villages, history, natural
wonders, shopping, and a wide range of restaurants, where you can
enjoy fresh off-the-boat lobster from the local fishermen.
Coastal activities are endless in this picturesque region of Maine,
including whale and puffin excursions, as well as sailing, sea
kayaking, and sightseeing. The interior lakes offer canoeing, fishing
and camping opportunities, while local trails offer hiking and
biking along the waters edge. For something less strenuous, try a
little sightseeing at nearby Quoddy Point Light, the easternmost
lighthouse in the U.S., or visit Campobello in Canada, where
FDR spent his summers. Whether you prefer the peaceful lapping of
the waves along the shoreline, the activities at small town festivals
and fairs, or the thrill of seeing nature up close, Down East and
Acadia offers that and more!
